Elizabeth

I am predominantly a painter but often create work using textile and stitch in a painterly way. An example is the piece based on poppies that has been translated into a textile piece based on one of my watercolour paintings.

A recent workshop with textile artist Anne Brooke has opened up yet another avenue and resulted in ‘Wimbledon the Peacock’ – so called as it was created whilst watching the tennis on television! Here a collage of paper has been embroidered using free motion machine stitching, hand embroidery and embellished with beads, sequins and shisha glass.

I am now retired and devote most of my time creating work in my garden studio in Rossendale.

As a new member of Ribble Creative Stitchers I hope to incorporate more textile based explorations into my art practice and enjoy the community and support of fellow members.
