My grandmother had a dress-making business and my mother had a ladies-wear shop (which involved alterations) so it was almost inevitable that I would enjoy sewing and textiles. My daughter now has her own alterations business, so it definitely runs in the family.

I was given a toy sewing machine when I was 5 years old, and from then on I enjoyed needlework both at home and at school. I still have some of the things that I made! I currently enjoy a variety of sewing techniques including making some of my own clothes.

I’m particularly inspired by the landscape, especially in Scotland. I’m also inspired by the talented ladies that I meet at Ribble Creative Stitchers, who are happy to pass on their knowledge.
