I’ve been sewing for as long as I can remember¬†…. dolls clothes and embroidered tablecloths, which seemed to take forever. Then, in my teenage years, I progressed to making my own dresses – buying a yard or two from Fowler’s on Blackburn Market and making a dress for dancing that same evening.

It’s always been practical sewing, making my childrens’ clothes until they needed a label in them. I wasn’t beyond cutting labels out to put into theirs. Still being practical now my children are grown, and its curtains, cushions, Roman Blinds and ‘can you just alter the neck, hem or size!! of this dress’. I’m a fabric-aholic and just hoard fabrics for the day I can be creative….that day is coming, as having just¬†joined Ribble Creative Stitchers, I find it inspiring and intend to have a go. Perhaps the practical will win-out and the things that I learn will end up on dresses and jackets.
