Brought up by a mother who made everything including knitted swimming costumes, which caused much embarrassment when they stretched when wet(!) and attending a convent grammar school, where the emphasis was on sewing and baking, I hated everything ‘home-made’ with a passion. The years have mellowed that idea and now I love sewing anything and everything and I love cooking too.
I began sewing for my daughter and made her a teddy-bear, which had to look like an old-style bear. From that, I went on to make collectors bears, which I exhibited at Hugglers Teddy Bear Fair in Kensington, London, for 4 years. My HoneyHole Bears travelled to all corners of the globe and I took great delight in supplying bears to 2 specialist shops in Germany (the home of the Teddy Bear).
I love hand-embroidery, especially crewel work and patchwork, but my great delight is making TROLLS – the uglier, the better!!! They cause havoc in any home and things are collected by them when no-one is looking, but I love them!
