Membership
Our membership comes from across Lancashire, including Clitheroe, Preston and Lancaster, and also from surrounding counties.
We all have different levels of expertise and experience but share an interest in creative textiles. Some of the techniques that we enjoy are hand and free-machine embroidery, felting, dyeing, printing, batik, mixed media, tapestry weaving, patchwork, beading and so on.
Some people prefer to use traditional needlework techniques, whilst others love to experiment with new products and techniques. Most like to do a bit of everything!
We welcome new members, whether experienced or beginners. Anyone who enjoys textiles can come along and enjoy what we do. You will receive a warm welcome and find that we are a friendly and supportive group.
Look at the list of frequently asked questions below to find out more about membership of our group.
Please note: As we have reached our membership number limit we are now taking names to be added to a waiting list.
How much does it cost to join?
Membership is currently £35 per year, payable on 1st April. Payment is by Bank Transfer.
Are you accepting new members? Will I need to be interviewed or show my work?
Please note: As we have reached our membership number limit we are now taking names to be added to a waiting list.
When we do accept new members our only requirement is that you’re interested in creating textile art.
Do I need to have any prior experience?
New members are always welcome no matter what their skills level or experience. Current members share their skills, helping to support and develop each other.
What equipment do I need?
You will need a basic sewing kit with scissors (ideally paper, fabric and embroidery), needles of various sizes, pins, threads, fabric marking pen etc. For workshops where a sewing machine is specified, you will need to bring a sewing machine in good working order, and you will need to know how to thread the machine and use it.
How often do you meet?
We meet monthly for workshops and talks. Do take a look at the current programme.
How do I book a workshop?
Once you are a member you’ll receive an email invitation (usually in the third week of the month) to book the following month’s workshop. Payment is required, by Bank Transfer, within 48 hours of booking the workshop. The payment is non-refundable.
I can't pay by Bank Transfer. Is there another way that I can pay?
No. All payments are made by Bank Transfer.
How much do the workshops cost?
The fee varies depending on the tutor. Typically from £25 for a 1-day workshop to, say, £90 for a 2-day workshop.
Can non-members attend a workshop?
Our workshops are usually filled by our members. Occasionally we advertise spare places on Facebook. Non-members pay a higher fee.
