Milly

I came to Arts & Crafts quite late in life, having done the obligatory needlework in school which consisted of hand sewing and embroidering the inevitable tray cloths featuring crinoline ladies. My hemming stitches were compared to dog’s teeth by my teacher!

Many years later I returned to embroidery with a vengeance, as I had discovered ribbon work. Sewing with pure silk ribbon was wonderful. From silk ribbons, I developed a love of silk painting and many of the scarves I created I still wear. A friend who had taken up beading offered to teach me if, in return, I would teach her to paint on silk and so beading is a definite must for me.

I enjoy creating handbags, book covers and pictures using many of the wonderful fabrics, felts and yarns and occasionally metals.  I love colour and textures and take my inspiration from my garden and my many creative friends.
