Val

I came to sewing later in life, although my mother was a very keen maker of clothes and household items – this did not rub off on me. It was not until I moved to the Ribble Valley area that I started taking an interest in all forms of hand embroidery and eventually using the sewing machine.

I have no formal training but have been lucky in joining Ribble Creative Stitchers where I picked up many of the skills I now have.

I enjoy patchwork and quilting on the machine, making bags (can’t have enough of those), constructing and covering books and Blackwork in hand stitching.

I am inspired by the colours and textures of the mountains, lochs and seashore of my native Scotland.
