Marlene

I have always been interested in textiles and have made things nearly all of my life. My grandmother, who was a tailoress, taught me to knit and my mother was handy with a sewing machine too. I actually trained in Fine Art but taught Art, Textiles and Ceramics for more

I became a member of Ribble Creative Stitchers over ten years ago following a course at Alston Hall, when we were invited to attend their ‘open day’ at Salesbury Memorial Hall.  I have been a member ever since – my main passion is off-loom bead weaving, making jewellery and anything involving beads.  I also enjoy needlework and various types of crafting.

It is a very forward looking club with members creating lots of experimental work with colour and textiles.
