Little Book of Colour workshop with Tansy Hargan

Ribble Creative Stitchers were delighted to welcome textile artist Tansy Hargan to lead a workshop called ‘Little Book of Colour’.

The workshop began on Friday evening when Tansy asked members to deconstruct fabrics to discover unexpected edges, shapes and elements before everyone then painted the pieces. This meant Saturday began with a colour palette of fabric which was then further enhanced with the addition of inventive mark making. Tansy explained and demonstrated how to be creative when collaging the fabric pieces together. She explained how to add stitch and layers to further embellish the backgrounds which would be constructed to cover a watercolour sketchbook.
The last hour of the afternoon was spent doing calm, mindful watercolour painting using the beautiful handmade paints that Tansy had brought along, working in the concertina sketchbooks that would be put inside the fabulous textile book covers.

The thoroughly enjoyable workshop was held over the Easter weekend so all attendees received an Easter egg from the RCS committee to take home with them.
