The Rhythm of Life exhibition
April – May 2024
Ribble Creative Stitchers held an exhibition jointly with Bolton Stitch and Textiles in the Coach House Gallery in Astley Park, Chorley. The exhibition titled ‘The Rhythm of Life’ was inspired by the many aspects that affect our existence.
A combination of both traditional and contemporary textile practices, coupled with mixed-media techniques, were used to produce creative and inspiring textile art.
Some of the work focused on the rhythms of the natural environment; such as the seasons of the year, the cycles of the moon or the effects of weather. Other work was inspired by the patterns of life created by human beings or animals. Other inspirations included social issues and family life.
This theme included a wide interpretation of work which enabled members of both groups to express their personal views and create inspiring and individual work.
Ribble Creative Stitchers members also created work titled ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ all in dark blue and white which were all displayed together creating impact in the gallery. A collaborative body of work was also created by members of both groups called ‘Seasonal Landscapes’ connecting many individual and very different textile representations into a large focal piece of art in the exhibition.
